PREPARATION FOR THE INTERVIEW
PREPARATION FOR THE INTERVIEW
It has become a standard measure to judge the quality, competence and capability of interviewees as is evident from its wide and frequent use. It has become an acceptable and time-tested instrument to assess one's personality and suitability in the various public and private domain selection procedure, right from Union Public Service Commission, through State Public Service Commission, Defence Services Selection, Railway Service Commission to a private institution, establishments, corporate bodies and companies.
Many of its shortcomings can be minimized by competent, knowledgeable and impartial interviewers with a liberal, board secular and human outlook.
Now, it is obvious that interviews are there forever and one has to face them to get suitably placed and employed. IT has become a well-established and time-tested method and technique to screen the interviewers, to eliminate unsuitable candidates and select the right ones. This process should be transparent because the complete life and progress of interviewers are depended on this process. Therefore, you have to face the panel of an interview whether you are trying for an IAS, IPS, or for the post for a clerk, receptionist, supervisor, engineer, executive, or for any other post.
In some cases, there is an interview after a written test, group discussion, or examination based on the post. In some others, there is a direct interview without a written test and candidates are called on the basis of their resume/CV incorporated into the letter of application for the mentioned job profile or position. However, an interview letter or call is a very welcome phenomenon and a desirable situation. It means half the battle has already been won. But there cannot be any space for complacency or self-satisfaction on the basis of credentials and quality of a candidate. Success in employment comes the hard way and one has to struggle a lot for selection on a post which one feels competent to occupy.
In this technical era, Things should not be taken easy and lying. It is wrong to take an interview call casually thinking that it is an easy task and a routine and formal matter. Many are called but only a few are selected. The chosen ones are lucky and fortunate but their number is always too few. They can be counted on the tips of your fingers. Never think that you have to just present yourself in your best clothes before the interview board and time and answer their question and queries. since an interview is a test of one's personality, aptitude, knowledge, qualities of head heart and behavior pattern by an expert panel, its toughness and rigors cannot be overlooked. It is not possible to get a second chance and also not necessary to provide some bribe or any contact for the selection in an interview.
A good, long and proper preparation is a must for a successful interview. One has to prepare oneself mentally, psychologically and physically for the coming event involving face-to-face encounters with a panel of knowledgeable and learned people. But one need not be afraid in the least.
